World Book Day

21/03/2017

MDG celebrated World Book Day on March 2nd 2017!

Each child received a voucher for books and there were lots of activities in-class to celebrate this event.

Did you know that here in MDG we have a book club that runs after school?

Remember:

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go!”

Science Week

25/01/2017

A great week was had by all for science week! Each class took part in science experiments in class and there was an exhibition of experiments in the hall. We were working on predicting, measuring, exploring, experimenting, recording and reporting; as well as having lots of fun! Classes also worked on “design and make”, where groups of children designed and explored an idea, and then went about making it. Some things that were made included a suspension bridge, an air propelled car and a working lighthouse!

Sam Maguire Comes to MDG

12/12/2016

A big thank you to Paul and Erin’s Isle who organised for the Sam Maguire to come to the school today, 12th December. Lots of children wore jerseys to celebrate the event, and everyone got to see the cup in the hall.

The school teams also had a chance to have their photo taken alongside Sam Maguire.

Up the Dubs!

Senior Infants Receive Their Mighty Mouth Awards!

09/12/2016

The Mighty Mouth Schools Programme has been developed as a significant evidence based oral health promotion tool in the overall delivery of dental care services for young children living in Ireland.

The programme concentrates on the value of good dental care as part of childrens’ overall health and well being. In particular it emphasises the essential role of tooth-friendly foods and drinks, and of supervised regular effective tooth brushing with fluoride toothpaste. It also includes information and advice on dental services for children.

Maths Week

30/11/2016

Mdg had a very successful maths week where all classes took part in math games, puzzles and exploring maths in everyday life.

The emphasis was on maths for fun, and on problem solving! There were special activities in the classes and in the cookery room.

A big thanks to all and to Ms McGrath who coordinated this.

November: We Remember…

28/11/2016

During the month of November, we remember all those who have died and we celebrate the feasts of All Souls and All Saints. The children took part in numerous activities in class to remember loved ones who have died, and there was a prayer service commemorating the faithful departed on Friday 25th November. Here are some pictures from the Junior Prayer service.

Eternal rest, grant unto them O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace. Amen.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.
