Our Tourist Town

19/06/2012

our tourist town

Our class made a tourist town.  It took a month to make it.  We started in May and finished on the 7th of June.  It was made mostly out of recycled cardboard.  Firstly we all had to bring in used cereal boxes.  Next we covered them with paper maché. That took us two days.  After that we applied several layers of white paint.  The next day we had to stuff them to make them stand up because most of them kept on falling down.  We sealed the tops of them with newspaper.  Then we had to paint them.  We put roofs on them using black and brown paper.  Some people put chimneys on their buildings.

Then we painted them. Some people had to repaint them. The next day teacher gave us plastic stars to stick onto our buildings if we wanted to for like if we wanted to have a five star restaurant or hotel.

We ripped open some large cardboard boxes and made the base for our tourist town. We had to put all of our buildings on the base and our teacher traced around them. We painted in things like car parks and round-a-bouts and made things like stop signs and trees.

Two girls in our class made a swimming pool with paper, and made toys to go in it.

Three boys in our class made a church.   As you can see the church is in the shape of cruciform.  A lot of churches inIrelandare in the shape of a cruciform.  You don’t really notice the shape unless you see it from above.

We videoed ourselves placing our buildings on the base and we took photos.

The Tourist town is an example of how a town can cater for tourists visiting it.

We hope you enjoyed our project.
