9/11/12
• Toni & Robyn appointed chairpersons, Erica & Megan appointed secretaries.
• All classes reported a big improvement in composting.
• The committee discussed the results of the water investigation. Results were unanimous= USING A BASIN WHEN WASHING ART SUPPLIES SAVES WATER. Results will be displayed on the green school’s notice board.
• The “turn off & close” campaign to continue and committee to encourage peers to close corridor doors and turn off lights.
16/11/12
• Ms Fanning discussed water harvesting with the committee and how the water butt can be used most effectively. Ann is to source water containers which classes can use to take water from the butt for washing art supplies.
30/11/12
• Good news for the committee, the renewal visit date has been set for March 5th.
• A guest speaker from An Taisce will come to speak the 5th and 6th classes about water and water treatment on February 1st.
• Ms Fanning to arrange a visit to Liffey Works Water Treatment Plant in February for 6th class.
• February will be Water Awareness month-all classes will take part in lessons and projects related to water and water conservation.
• 5th class reported problems with composting-glue sticks in the compost. How can we resolve this? A grid will be given to each class and the compost will be monitored daily.
