Easter 2016 Update
Thanks to all the parents who have been involved in the many different HSCL initiatives over the past months in the school. It has been great to see lots of faces at HSCL events and your support and help is much appreciated.

The children in Early Start enjoyed story-telling sessions with their parents and a weekly visit to a school library in our Parents’ Room to choose books to read at home.

Junior Infants enjoyed several weeks of story-telling and language games based on these stories. Thanks to all the parents for your help.

Senior Infants also enjoyed a number of Maths for Fun sessions in the Parents’ Room. Thanks so much to all the parents for coming along and making the programme a huge success and great fun for the classes.

Parents of our 2nd classes were of great help in running successful Maths for Fun sessions with the children. Thanks to all who supported the classes with these fun mornings in the Parents’ Room.

Parents of 4th and 5th class children were invited to an open transfer meeting in the Erin’s Isle in Finglas. At the meeting were representatives from secondary schools in the area to answer questions parents might have to help make the important decision of which school to send their child to when finished in Mother of Divine Grace. Lots of parents attended from our school and I hope felt well informed after to help with making their decision.

In the coming months after Easter I will be running various other initiatives in other classes and hope more parents will be available to help and would like to be involved in working with the children. If you would be interested and are free to get involved please keep a look out for what will be coming up.

Parents’ classes and courses are continuing to run in the Finglas area. Yoga for parents continues on Thursdays in our Parents’ Room from 9.15am -10.45am. All are welcome to come along and enjoy the course free of charge. If you wish to avail of any of our other courses please feel free to contact me and find out any necessary information needed.

A STEPS course will be running in St.Helena’s Resource Centre in April. STEPS is a course designed to help individuals move beyond where they currently are to more fulfilling and successful lives. It is a 4 day course taking place on 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th April. There is a 5 euro cost for this course and places are very limited. If you are interested in taking part in this course please contact Ms. McGrath, the HSCL coordinator on 087 0512308

Our Parents’ Room is available for parents to use daily and make a cup of tea or coffee. We ask as always that you use the room with respect and leave it as you find it.

The Parents’ Association ran a hugely successful Cake Sale in February. Fantastic organisation and effort went into the event which was thoroughly enjoyed by all on the day. All of the help and extra hands on the day were much appreciated. Thanks so much also to everyone who donated generously to the fundraiser.

The Parents’ Association also have been very involved in organising the albs for the children who will be making their Confirmation in April. Thanks so much to them for all their time and dedication.

I hope all parents and children have a happy and safe Easter together and I look forward to working with you all again in the new term.

I would like to welcome all parents, new and old, back to the new term. I hope all the children are settled into the new school year.

A variety of courses and classes are available for parents this term. Please let me know if you would be interested in attending any of these.

I hope to continue this year with various initiatives such as Maths for Fun and Paired Reading. In order for these projects to be successful I need your support. One hour a week of your time could make a great difference in a child’s education.

If you have any concerns or worries, please come and talk to me. My office is located on the same corridor as the main office.

The Parents Room, Room 3, is located on the lower left corridor. All are welcome to use this room. As ever I hope you treat this facility with respect and leave it in a neat condition.

I look forward to working with you all throughout the year. Wishing you and your children every good wish for the academic year.
