History

About our School

In 1962, Mother of Divine Grace consisted of two schools: Mother of Divine Grace Infant School and Mother of Divine Grace Girls National School. The schools were opened to provide for the needs of the families from the new housing estates in Finglas East. Enrolment reached a peak of over 1,000 children in the mid-seventies but a trend of falling numbers since then resulted in the amalgamation of the two schools in September 1997.

Nearly 450 boys and girls attend Mother of Divine Grace School today. The children wear a navy blue uniform with a white shirt and red tie or a navy tracksuit with red polo shirt. Mrs. Eleanor Fahy is our principal and there are twenty six full time teachers including Learning Support/ Resource, English as an Additional Language, Early Start and Home School Community Liaison. Five special needs assistants support our pupils with Special Educational Needs. A school completion teacher, a play therapist, a drama therapist, and a child-care worker also support the children in our school.

Along with the teaching staff, many people help make our school a happy, clean and safe place: our secretary, the cleaning staff, our caretakers and our Lollipop Lady.

Parents play an active role in our school, both educationally and financially and their whole-hearted support is much valued and appreciated. There is an active Parents' Association.

The following podasts about our school were recorded by sixth class pupils in 2007:
