There was a great tradition of mini-basketball in MDG. Mini-basketball festivals were often held on our four outside courts. Our pupils were often represented on the Dublin All-Stars team. One year, four of our pupils were on the Dublin All-Stars squad of twenty boys and girls.

Murals were painted in the stairwells by pupils under the guidance of Helen O'Donoghue who is now Senior Curator and Head of Education and Community Programmes at the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
